Sometimes there is nothing worse than being excited about finding the "gem" on an auction site, bidding on it for a week, winning the item with a high dollar amount and after receiving the item, you realize it is not the "real" thing! Not only is it disappointing to the Bidder but can also hurt the reputation of the Seller. Ziot is not an appraiser but these are some of things we have learned by researching and listening to some of the professionals.

- Don't walk up to a dealer and ask, "What's this worth?" Their usual reply is, "How much do you want for it?" Many of the dealers have spent years acquiring knowledge, and passing out free advice is not typically part of their job description.

- Do Not sell your item to the same person you ask to evaluate it. Buying low and selling high is how they make their living.

- Quality is very important. Just because something is old or in its original box does not necessarily make it valuable. The better its condition, the more it is worth.

- No matter what information you receive regarding the value of your antique or collectible, it is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. Just because your Super Queens Batgirl is valued at $3000 in the collector guide does Not mean anything unless you find someone who is willing to pay that price!
